Take control - Set a goal

  1. Identifying the change

The world is your oyster when it comes to making changes and focussing on personal growth, so there are a couple of points you might find useful to consider when setting your personal goals.

Without intending to, the risk is that we might commit to changes that are potentially more focussed on external factors (what others might think!), than what we truly want for ourselves.

So, dig deep, and ask yourself what you truly desire … for YOU.

You are the only one that has to live your life. No one else….. But in these times of constant comparison to others, we can get led away from our own needs, and find ourselves setting what we believe are more “popular” or “approved of” goals.

Also, I wonder if you could focus on setting goals that you can really consider in a positive way?

What I mean by this is that it’s incredibly easy to think of goals based on self criticism , ie

I should

  • have a better job

  • be thinner

  • have my life sorted out by now

but there IS a better way.

Try a little kindness when thinking about your personal goals.

Instead of letting them be driven by feelings of negativity, embarrassment or self judgement, maybe ask yourself

“What do I deserve?”

Setting goals based on deserving better for ourselves can really set the tone for how we think about, set and pursue our personal goals.

Make it personal & make it important to you!

See you back here next week for episode 2.
